MorsettoAudio

Let your words shape the sound.

MorsettoAudio

MorsettoAudio turns short text into a rhythmic contour for your sound. Give a sustained pad a pulse, break a recording into bright gestures, or let a few letters guide a slow sweep of tone and stereo movement.

Start with MORSE for free. Shape its timing and mappings, or unlock Pro to write a phrase of your own. Hear it move through the audio already playing in your host.

Coming soon for iPhone, iPad and Mac as an AUv3 audio effect. Requires a compatible music host and an audio source.

From a word to a moving sound

  • A rhythm with a personal starting point

Choose a Morse-unit duration from a sixty-fourth note to a whole note, with optional triplets, and let your host set the pace. Pro turns your own words into dots, dashes and gaps.

    Free
The complete MORSE pattern, with unlimited use.
    Pro
Your own text, up to 20 supported characters.
  • Make room for the groove

Move the first character to give the phrase a little space before it begins. Adjust later characters independently, resize a loop or move the whole loop region. Work freely or snap to Morse ticks and host beats.

    Free
Original spacing and the complete MORSE loop.
    Pro
Character spacing, leading silence and loop editing.
  • Six ways to make it move

Follow the complete Morse envelope, isolate dots or dashes, rise through a Loop Ramp, or follow the dynamics of your main audio or a separate Sidechain input. Each mapping can choose its own source.

    Free & Pro
    All six modulation sources.
  • Carry the movement into tone and space

Map your chosen sources to amplitude, low-pass filter cutoff, stereo balance, stereo width and drive. Select a mapping tab, drag its range endpoints and invert its movement.

    Free & Pro
All five destinations and their range controls.
  • Shape each transition

Adjust Morse balance, attack, release and edge offsets. Use Reshape Overlaps to shorten fades that collide, and Depth to refine the strength of the treatment. Each audio follower has its own sensitivity and response settings.

    Free & Pro
All Shape controls and both audio followers.
  • Part of your arrangement

Save patterns, source choices, ranges and follower settings with your host’s project or presets. Each instance keeps its own settings; Pro lets each carry a custom phrase.

    Free & Pro
Host saving and six automatable Shape controls.

One pattern, five destinations

Begin with Amplitude to hear the rhythm clearly. Add Filter Cutoff for changing brightness, Stereo Balance for left-to-right movement, Stereo Width for a narrower or broader image, and Drive for soft saturation.

Five permanent mapping tabs keep their source, destination, range and direction. Active Mapping enables each one independently; selecting a different tab leaves the other active mappings running. Each active destination can be used once, and disabled mappings keep their settings.

Several destinations can move together or respond differently: gate the level with Morse marks while a loop ramp slowly opens the filter, or let the dynamics of your playing change the stereo width.

The mappings act on the combined stereo signal. For independent movement across instruments, place separate instances on their tracks.

Choose what drives the movement

  • Morse Envelope follows the complete shaped pattern.
  • Dots only and Dashes only isolate the two mark types, with the same Morse shaping controls.
  • Loop Ramp rises across the selected loop, then begins again at the wrap.
  • Audio Envelope follows the level of the main stereo input before the effects.
  • Sidechain follows a separate mono or stereo input routed by your host. That signal controls modulation without being mixed into the audible output.

Audio Envelope and Sidechain each have independent Sensitivity, Floor, Attack and Release settings. Mappings using the same source share its follower, while retaining their own ranges and directions. Input meters show the incoming level, while a live marker shows the follower’s response. An optional Dot Trail adds visual history without changing the sound. Host playback is still required, and Sidechain needs a host that exposes its input routing.

Edit the phrase by ear

With Pro, your text remains a draft until you choose Apply Phrase. Add leading silence, move characters to reshape the gaps, and drag the loop boundaries to isolate a gesture or add trailing silence. Drag the labelled duration strip to move the loop without changing its length. Boundaries can fall inside a mark or a gap.

Zoom and scroll for detail, use Fit to return toward an overview, and choose Morse Ticks, Host Transport, both grids or None. These navigation controls and timing adjustments are available in Free. Undo, Redo, and Reset spacing and loop support Pro edits within the open editor.

Three steps to your first pattern

  1. Bring in a sound. Insert MorsettoAudio on a stereo audio or instrument track in a compatible AUv3 host.
  2. Start with MORSE. Choose its note value and leave Morse Envelope connected to Amplitude for the first listen. With Pro, you can also apply your own word.
  3. Start the host. Play the project and explore modulation sources and destinations. With Pro, reshape the spacing and loop too.

The host controls tempo and playback. MorsettoAudio follows the current song position when playback starts or you move elsewhere in the arrangement. Recording and exporting the result use your host’s normal workflow.

Free and Pro

Free includes unlimited MORSE processing, all six modulation sources and five destinations, both followers, shaping, subdivision/triplets, host automation and saving. Its text, canonical spacing and complete natural loop remain fixed.

MorsettoAudio Pro is an optional one-time purchase for custom text, character spacing, leading silence and loop authoring. Buy or restore it in the MorsettoAudio app, then choose Refresh Pro in the plug-in if needed. MorsettoMIDI Pro is a separate purchase.

If a Pro project is opened without Pro access, playback uses MORSE while the custom pattern stays saved for when access is restored.

Compatibility and availability

The current system baseline is iOS/iPadOS 18 or later and macOS 15 or later. A compatible AUv3 host must support stereo audio effects and supply tempo, beat position and transport. Tested host/device combinations and App Store links will be added before release.

For rhythmic articulation of individual played notes, explore MorsettoMIDI . See the Morsetto overview to compare both products.
